Rob is Associate Professor and Program Head of the Applied Psychology Program at Arizona State University. He is also skill acquisition specialist at Boston Red Sox and research Psychologist for the United States Air Force.

He also wrote the best selling books How We Learn to Move: A Revolution in the Way We Coach & Practice Sports Skills' and ‘Learning to Optimize Movement: Harnessing the Power of the Athlete-Environment Relationship’.
 

His research focuses on perceptual-motor control with a particular emphasis on the demanding actions involved in sports. His goal is to conduct research that can be applied towards the improvement of training and performance. In 2007 he was awarded the Distinguished Scientific Award for Early Career Contribution to Psychology from the American Psychological Association and the Earl Alluisi Award for Early Career Achievement in the Field of Applied Experimental & Engineering Psychology.
